Healthy Lifestyle, here I come!
November 3, 2009 at 5:47 pm | In New stuffs | Leave a CommentAfter much much MUCH procrastination, I have finally gotten myself to start leading a healthy lifestyle. Not only with the hope of improving my immune system, but also to lose weight (since the chances of me growing taller has become ZERO at this age*sadded*).
With the help of my Pasir Ris kaki, we started our healthy lifestyle by jogging last Saturday afternoon. Oh yes, that jogging session got us reminiscing poly days when we were *’conned’ into take the NAPFA test, otherwise we wouldn’t graduate, that was what we were told. And NAPFA test means 2.4km run. I remembered myself running a short distance at Bedok Reservoir, and walking the remaining distance of the 2.4km route. No prizes for guessing what was the result – FAIL. Hahahaha.
*On graduation day, we found out that those who did not take the NAPFA test and have no reason to skip it also graduated with us. Pfffft. Buang energy aku je jalan 2.4km.
On Sunday morning, we played badminton till our right arms were a bit sore. Farha’s also going to make me eat bananas by making me eat her Banana Choc Chip muffin FIRST, before eating the fruit SECOND. We’ll see how that goes. Haha.
So here’s to healthy lifestyle. Since morning, my brain has been trying to churn out healthy recipes to make for lunches (since Chinatown is not so Halal-healthy-friendly). This shall increase the list of senang-macam-kacang recipes that are already in this space. Heh.
To make things even more exciting for me, my cousin’s getting married on 22nd November, so I am targeting to lose a little weight by then, so I can wear the pink baju kurung Pahang that all of us girls are wearing (best nyer!!!!) and stay pretty. Hmmm, I wonder if my cousin can make me her escort, so that I can have a high chance to be in all her pictures. Hahaha, menyebok aje.
Hehe… wouldn’t hurt riggggght?
Beginner’s Lesson

It’s the second day of fasting, the 3rd day of Ramadhan, and I feel that there’s a hikmah behind having the first day of fasting to fall on a Saturday.
I say so because it is the weekends that I am available at home, and it has given me the opportunity to cook a few dishes for breaking fast, if not just helping my mum with the cooking.
Today’s menu is barbequed chicken and my mum took the chance to teach me how to slaughter the chicken. (All this while, I only cut chicken fillet into smaller pieces, never chopping a whole chicken into smaller parts, so imagine my anxiety, I was praying so hard inside that I wouldn’t vomit.)
I already felt pity for the chicken when my mum showed me the first step – chopping off its head. I couldn’t even look at it, even though it was already dead. Then she showed me the subsequent steps.
I was not eeked out by the trans-fats, because I was more than happy to get rid of them. I was not eeked out by the blood that oozed out when you accidentally cut through the bones, when actually you were aiming for the joints. I was not eeked out by the small heart that was dangling inside (but eventually it fell off). I was not eeked out by the fact that we have to massage the chicken inside out (I treated it as a thankful gesture for letting us humans eat it, heh).
BUT…
I was eeked out when my mum oozed out something she called ‘oil’ from the chicken’s backside. I didn’t know chicken backside stored oil! Now for that part, I almost wanted to vomit and give up. Seriously!!! It looked like you are bursting a pimple, except that the chicken backside actually oozed out a lot more of that yellowish stuff… EEEEEEEW.
It was really difficult for me to believe that it’s oil, simply because it came out from a backside! But at the same time, I didn’t want to allow myself to think that it’s shit, otherwise I would ban chicken from my diet altogether. (Now I know why my brother has the similar mindset towards prawns.)
And that was only a demo from my mum. In fact, she bought two chickens, so that I could have my own hands-on for the second chicken. Everything was ok, until I had to do the backside. *shudders*
I had no choice but to overcome the fear because she said sooner or later I am going to have to do it myself. Buying a pack of ready chicken parts is much more expensive, than buying a whole chicken and cut it into smaller pieces ourselves.
Thankfully, I did not faint in the process. I think I would do it again, when my family feels like eating chicken. Haha.
Selamat berbuka semua!
Ice Princess… *Tak Menjadi*
July 12, 2009 at 6:15 pm | In Love, New stuffs | Leave a CommentOur ‘official’ plan for yesterday’s date was to go to Marina Barrage (since I had never set my foot there)… BUT due to some circumstances, going to that place seemed inconvenient that day… Since Tok and I rarely date, I insisted that we needed to do something or go somewhere memorable.
After our soya beancurd breakfast at Kovan, we headed down to Ehub for some bowling. For someone who totally suck at the sport, I did pretty ok. Haha… I won the first set, and Tok won the second. While playing, somehow we manged to scan around the place and ‘gossip’ about other players.
Especially the father and son team who was playing beside us. The boy was about primary 3… and it seemed as if the dad woke him up and said ‘WAKE UP! LET’S GO BOWLING!!’, and the boy just dashed to the door and off they go to Ehub. Seriously, this boy was not groomed properly enough to leave the house… and it was either he hates the dentist, or the dentist hates him, because he needed serious dental treatment. Seriously.
BUTTTTT… I think bowling runs in his blood. Because when he missed out ONLY two pins, he shakes his head in disappointment. And whenever his dad striked all the pins, the boy screamed ‘OUTSTANDING!!!’ Like whoa… or what.
After two sets, we were cracking our heads of a place to go. And…. ding ding ding!!!
This was another place which I had never set foot in (not to mention the whole mall itself) and we tried ice skating!!!! It was my first time, and I know nothing about ice skating… IT WAS TORTURE!!!! I was so afraid of falling down but after one hour plus later, I got slightly better, but still a disaster compared to a figure ice skater… and I fell down a few times.
I will never do ice skating anymore, unless I can work the roller blades. Then I woke up today with sores all over my body. Argh.
Nak memorable sangat kan… serves me right. Pffft.
A Little of Racing and Dostana
November 30, 2008 at 1:30 am | In Love, New stuffs | Leave a CommentWhen Tok and I first began to get to know each other, one of the first few facts about him was that he loves Hindustan movies. And I cringed over it. At the time, I thought to myself, I would never grow to like Hindustan movies, they sing about EVERTHING. They fall in love, they sing. They fall out of love, they sing. They fight, they sing. Someone dies, they sing. They get married, they sing. You get my drift.
But well, I just came out from an approximately TWO AND A HALF HOURS movie screening of a Hindustan movie at GV Tamp earlier, titled ‘Dostana’.
It was simply superb. I don’t even want to put ’superb’ to describe it, because it was more than superb. It was worth every dollar and cents. And Farha, if you want to catch a Hindustan movie, go watch Dostana. Really.
I have fallen in love with Hindustan movies after I watched Om Shanti Om, after Tok lent me Jannemann and after I watched Dostana. And we have already pre-planned our next movie date to watch this upcoming movie featuring Shah Rukh Khan (movie title is too long for me to remember) opening in December. Wooohooooo!
Before we entered the cinema for Dostana, I had a car race with Tok at the arcade. I think after my second driving practicle lesson, I feel more comfortable driving, even if it meant having a screen as your window to the animated road. I won the first round, and Tok won the second round.
Funny, I hated arcades. Even when Farhana and Zari invited me to race Daytona with them sometime last year, I rejected their invitation because I couldn’t stand the noise. And now? I look forward to car racing.
Hmmm… looks like Tok has got me hooked to two of his loves. Car racing at arcades and Hindustan movies. =)
OCBC Cycle Singapore 2009
November 28, 2008 at 12:16 pm | In New stuffs | Leave a CommentMy eyes have been glued to the postcard of the OCBC Cycle Singapore 2009, and can’t seem to take my mind off it since then.
It will be held on Sunday, 22 February 2009. I am not sure about the provision of bicycles, but I had been contemplating to get a new one a few months back, but something always hold me back. But after knowing that this upcoming event is related to cycling, I am more determined to make it happen. Buying a bicycle, I mean.
Anybody want to join me? It will be like a marathon, but on wheels. =)
All Girls Affair Tea
November 20, 2008 at 9:41 pm | In Announcements, Friends, New stuffs, Religion | Leave a CommentHear ye’! Hear ye’! I bring good news to all!
Actually only to the girls. Heh. So the guys can relax one corner ok? Eh, no wait, I take that back! If you are a guy, and have a girlfriend, do spread the word to her and her friends ok ok ok?
Well, the female youth wing of En-Naeem Mosque is organizing an all girls event, which means all girls are invited! We are known as Az-Zahra, which means a beautiful flower *birds chirping sound playing at the background*, and also the name of our beloved Prophet Muhammad’s daughter – Fatimah Az-Zahra.
So click on the poster below for more details, and I know the deadline is TODAY, but I think as long as we can accommodate the space for you, you can still register.
And best of all… IT’S FREE!!!! Erm… okay, that’s like a bad reason to use as a promotion tool… haha… but I am sure it will be informative, fun and strictly girls issues only.
So I hope to see you girls there!
Facebook Account
November 11, 2008 at 10:37 pm | In New stuffs | 5 CommentsI finally got a Facebook account y’all!
Ok, I shan’t lie, and confess that this FB account does not literally belong to me…. but technically, it does. Heh. It just so happened that Tok was ‘forced’ to sign up for an FB account one day by his friend. And knowing that I do not have one, and have been teased and pestered by some of my friends about signing up for it, Tok has generously offered to share his FB account with me!
Looks like Tok has caught the sharing-is-caring virus from me… and it is a good virus, mind you. Haha.
So generally, I have a joint FB account with Tok, and the good thing about this account is that it does not involve money. =)
So, if you want to add, our profile name is ‘Tok Juju’. And I am still trying to explore this FB thing… I remember the time I commented that FB is for people who have nothing to do. Although I am a FB-er now, I haven’t found any reason to contradict my comment.
I can’t stand the sight of too much words.
So anyway, add us okay? Haven’t added much peektures yet, because my laptop has been held hostage by my brother. Heh, kidding, he needs a laptop more than I do. But the photos that you see now are those that were taken during our most recent barbeque cum Herna’s birthday celebration.
Add us ok? Haha.
