It’s the meaning of those words… plus the picture gives the meaning more ‘oomph!’ to it. You know what I mean.

“Take full advantage of your youth before your old age.” – Rasulullah S.A.W.
Yesterday I went to the ‘Uth CAN. Change. Act Now. Seminar’ after my driving lesson. After a long time not attending such things, I am happy that I did attend this one.
It has hit some more sense into my head, enlightened my heart, and motivated my spirit. Insya-Allah, when the opportunity comes, I will get to share what was shared during that seminar.
In the meantime, I need to get my room cleaned.

When we are in love, we are willing to do just about anything to please the people we love. We find ourselves more willing to go through shits and sacrifices to make them feel happy being with us and love us.
Now, why haven’t we done just about the same thing for Allah s.w.t? Why haven’t we gone through so much to plese Him? Don’t we want Him to love us too as much as (or even better, more than) our partner loves us?
The only difference is that He never asks us to go through shits for Him. And… we never thought of going through shits for Him.
So, just how much is our love for Him…. as opposed to our love for our girlfriends/boyfriends? How much are we willing to sacrifice for Him?

If you want the lyrics of the nasyid, it’s this one.
If you want the meaning of the nasyid, it’s this one.
I still remember the first time I heard the song. I was on duty at Expo, assisting the En-Naeem Project Team with it’s Nasi Briyani Amal booth. There I lost my wallet and handphone. As if a lecture from my mum via Ameera’s handphone was not enough, Tok wasn’t in Singapore to hear my rant and share the anger (but I could imagine his anger when I told him through the phone later on… ironically it made me feel better knowing that someone was as angry as me. Heh.).
I also cannot forget how I easily and secretly accused someone I knew, out of anger, astarghfirullahalazeem.
Alhamdulillah, I had good good friends from En-Naeem – The Tellitubbies (Wan, Ramdan, Ustaz Muhammad and Abang Rahim) and Ameera – who cheered me up and bought me food on that fateful day. Haha… And in the midst of feeling super helpless, it was then, I heard that song being played out loud from the booth that we were sharing with… and it totally calmed me down to the extent that I was stoning satu corner.
I want its MP3 format can!
Anyway, I went to Wisma Indah today…. for the second time this week (hehehe) and as I stepped into the Dewan Solat Wanita, there were some madrasah girls mengaji-ing… And masyaAllah! One of the girls had a beautiful voice. No… not like Madonna, or Beyonce. She has one of the most beautiful mengaji voices I had ever heard.
Let’s put it this way, if any of you hear the recitation of surah-surah Al-Quran from Sheikh Mishary Rashid Al-Fasy, that girl is like the female version! SubhanAllah!
Sigh… when will I ever get to learn to mengaji like that….? Suruh mengaji je suka kasi alasan… Last week, I ‘resumed’ my mengaji session with my mum… when I told her which page of the Quran I was reading…
Mum: Eh eh… dah lama tak ngaji aleh-aleh dah page tiga ratus lebih?
Me: Kenape tak leh pulak? Kadang-kadang Yana ngaji sendiri pe…
Mum: Ba, tengok Ba, anak you… Tiba-tiba je nak jump page… Abis tu ngaji brape page je kat sebelah dia ade satu botol air.
ME: Orang haus la….
Pffft. I shall spare you from the family conversation that we had afterwards ok… Heh. Bottomline is, mengaji with someone beats mengaji alone, because when you mengaji alone, you might not be aware of your own mistakes while reciting.
Am thinking of going back to Wisma Indah tomorrow perhaps. Hehe… Nak ikut?
Tudung and Akhlaq
May 16, 2009 at 2:35 pm | In Religion | Leave a CommentAnd tell the believing women to lower their gaze (from looking at forbidden things), and protect their private parts (from illegal sexual acts, etc.) and not to show off their adornment except only that which is apparent (like palms of hands or one eye or both eyes for necessity to see the way, or outer dress like veil, gloves, head-cover, apron, etc.), and to draw their veils all over Juyubihinna (i.e. their bodies, faces, necks and bosoms, etc.) and not to reveal their adornment except to their husbands, their fathers, their husband’s fathers, their sons, their husband’s sons, their brothers or their brother’s sons, or their sister’s sons, or their (Muslim) women (i.e. their sisters in Islam), or the (female) slaves whom their right hands possess, or old male servants who lack vigour, or small children who have no sense of the shame of sex. And let them not stamp their feet so as to reveal what they hide of their adornment. And all of you beg Allah to forgive you all, O believers, that you may be successful.
This ayat automatically came to mind when I learned of my friend’s story. I can’t say much about it, but it’s sad to know some Muslimahs can have the wrong mindset about other Muslimahs, which eventually can lead to a wrong generalisation on the latter. And in my friend’s case, it was related to a tudung issue.
Look around us, even if you are not a Muslim, at a glance, one can assume that a girl is a Muslim if she wears a tudung. Unfortunately, in today’s generation, the tudung has been mistaken as a fashion accessory by some.
Pakai tudung, tapi baju ketat.
Pakai tudung, tapi suka maki-maki.
Pakai tudung, tapi jalan macam gangster.
Pakai tudung, tapi ketawa kuat-kuat terbahak-bahak.
Pakai tudung, tapi perangai tak senonoh.
Bottomline, you wear like a Muslimah should, but you don’t behave like one.
I am definitely not saying that I am perfect. I too, accidentally spout vulgarities once in a while when I am super irritated. I too, laugh out loud after something funny happens. But alhamdulillah, I have good friends who constantly remind each other that we should watch our behaviour when we forget.
Yesterday, I asked Tok randomly, “What if you know a Muslim girl who is against another Muslim girl who wears a tudung? Would you think that the first girl is the kind of wild girl?”
His answer was, “No comment. Perempuan yang tak pakai tudung pun boleh lebih mulia daripada perempuan yang pakai tudung.”
Betol betol betol.
I knew what the answer meant. Yang penting… akhlak. And never think that we have completed and practiced the ‘whole chapter’ of Akhlak to the extent that we think we have perfected our Akhlak. Always reflect on our behaviour I am sure there is always something to be changed. At the end of it, to put it in a Muslim girl’s perspective, her akhlaq does not depend on whether she wears tudung or not.
May Allah guide us all.
All Girls Affair Tea
November 20, 2008 at 9:41 pm | In Announcements, Friends, New stuffs, Religion | Leave a CommentHear ye’! Hear ye’! I bring good news to all!
Actually only to the girls. Heh. So the guys can relax one corner ok? Eh, no wait, I take that back! If you are a guy, and have a girlfriend, do spread the word to her and her friends ok ok ok?
Well, the female youth wing of En-Naeem Mosque is organizing an all girls event, which means all girls are invited! We are known as Az-Zahra, which means a beautiful flower *birds chirping sound playing at the background*, and also the name of our beloved Prophet Muhammad’s daughter – Fatimah Az-Zahra.
So click on the poster below for more details, and I know the deadline is TODAY, but I think as long as we can accommodate the space for you, you can still register.
And best of all… IT’S FREE!!!! Erm… okay, that’s like a bad reason to use as a promotion tool… haha… but I am sure it will be informative, fun and strictly girls issues only.
So I hope to see you girls there!
We always ask
October 16, 2008 at 11:01 pm | In Love, Random Thoughts, Religion | 2 CommentsYou know what puzzles me?
When we really really want something, we seek help from God…. and most of the times we will get what we want, otherwise we’ll get something better.
We always ask from God, but once we’ve gotten what we really want, we’ll go back to our old bad ways. To what extent are we really thankful?
Last night during SPIB Religious class, Ustaz showed us a video, which conveyed a simple message – Allah is with us ALL THE TIME. When we are alone. When we are afraid. When we are weak. When we feel something is impossible. When we feel nobody loves us.
I have asked for many things, and I always ask myself, what have I done in return?
