Fried Chinese Mushrooms

This recipe takes about forty-five minutes (inclusive of preparation and cooking). It might be quick to some, or a little-bit time consuming to others. Health-conscious recipe? Hmmm… I don’t really know. But I love anything that has mushrooms in it! This recipe came about when I was craving for mushrooms at the time. Haha. :)

Ingredients:
 - 5 dried chinese mushrooms from any supermarket (soaked in hot water for 20 minutes till soft – they are hard in the first place)
- One tablespoon butter
- Ground black pepper
- Shredded roasted seaweed (for ‘garnishing’) *Optional
- Mayo *Optional

Method:
1. Slice the hard portion of the mushroom’s stem (the bottom-most part of the stem) from every mushroom and throw them away – they are too hard to be eaten man…
2. Slice the mushrooms moderately, not too thin
3. Melt butter in frying pan
4. Once melted (I luuuurve the smell of melted butter. Ok, random.), mix in the sliced mushrooms.
5. Stir for two minutes over low heat.
6. Mix black pepper to your taste.
7. Stir some more for one minute.
8. DONE!

You can eat it on it’s own (like Gardenia’s tag line), or I usually love eating it with rice. You may sprinkle the shredded seaweed over and add some mayo on the mushrooms.

If somehow, you’ve grown to love this recipe, but you don’t have time to prepare it for lunch in the wee mornings, fret not! You can cook it the night before, store it in the container (WITHOUT the seaweed and mayo yet) and put it in the fridge overnight. The next morning, you can heat it up in your microwave for thirty seconds, add the seaweed and mayo to the mushroom and pack it up with!

My mum’s advice, no matter if your side dish is dry or wet, as long as you are packing rice, pack it SEPARATELY.

Oh, and if you have a microwave at work, even better! You can heat it up just before lunch time. But I don’t because only one person in my workplace uses the microwave and I get eek-ed out just by thinking the things the fella heats up in there.

HAPPY TRYING!
